Is the Jackson Christmas parade on Tuesday, December 1 this year? Visit Jackson's event calendar says so, and it lists the theme as "Superhero Christmas." That theme, the 5:15 p.m. tree lighting and the 6:30 p.m. start all match word for word the City of Jackson's announcement for the 2025 parade, which ran on Monday, December 1, 2025.
That one listing explains how this year's holiday season is shaping up. The events with firm 2026 dates posted by the people running them fall in November or happen inside the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The best-known downtown December tradition is the one still waiting on its own announcement. Plan your season with the dates you can count on and pencil in the rest.
Downtown Jackson's First Fridays series starts the season with Holiday Makers, on Main Street from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on November 6, 2026. NBC39 reported that the event is free and open to the public, and that it's built around getting an early start on holiday shopping with local artisans and craft vendors.
The First Fridays page posts the full lineup, which is more than most holiday listings give you.
On stage:
For kids: face painting by House of Sky, an inflatable slide and a photo booth.
Pop-up vendors include Headfirst Farmstead, Pioneer Woodcrafters, Trinket and Trove, Petal & Linx, The Gateway Homestead Mercantile, Anointed Flowers & Gifts and Nur & Thyme. Artist vendors include Lori Bryant, Logan Stewart, Sonja Irons, Tony Tran and Old Hickorish.
Food and drink comes from Sunset Valley Farms, Arnold's Apples, Yummy Sourdough Pizza, The Perfect Bite and Twelve twenty-one baking co. Central Distributors sponsors a beer tent, and the JEA Water Tank will be on site.
Downtown storefronts are part of the night too. Businesses listed as open late include Turntable Coffee Counter, The Bodega, The Blacksmith, Truly Yours Boutique, Salem & Sage, Smithoddities, Dressed, Spring Street Cigars and Franklin's Little Bar. After the street program wraps up, the page lists live music at The Downtown Tavern and Karaoke on Tap at Hub City Brewing, both at 9:00 p.m.
Organizers write on the same page that they "added themes and activity zones this year," and they're asking for sponsors "as the holidays approach." Holiday Makers is the theme for November. No December First Friday theme has been posted yet.
At 7:30 p.m. on November 6, right as the street program ends, A Celtic Christmas by A Taste of Ireland plays The Ned, the Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center. The show is part of a 2026 U.S. tour presented by Pace Live, and its Eventbrite listing shows a 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. run with tickets from $45.84 to $76. The curtain goes up as the street event closes. If you have tickets, plan to leave Main Street a little early, maybe after Adam Johnson's 6:00 p.m. set, so you're seated before 7:30.
After November 6, the season's planning shifts to tickets and the Civic Center.
Holiday Mart is the first of three major holiday events at the Civic Center. All three have organizer-posted 2026 dates, which no downtown December event has yet.
| Date | Event | Times | Organizer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nov. 20–22 | Holiday Mart | Fri–Sat 9–5, Sun 12–4 | University School of Jackson |
| Sat., Dec. 5 | Christmas on Main Street | 11 a.m. family matinee, 7:30 p.m. evening | Jackson Symphony |
| Fri.–Sun., Dec. 11–13 | The Nutcracker | Fri & Sat 7 p.m., Sun 2 p.m. | Ballet Arts |
The Jackson Symphony calls Christmas on Main Street its annual Holiday Pops concert and its "favorite season tradition." The 11 a.m. performance on the same day is listed as a Family Matinee.
The Nutcracker is the date to double-check against your own memory of the season. Downtown Jackson's holiday page still shows a Ballet Arts Nutcracker on November 28 at 7 p.m., November 29 at 7 p.m. and November 30 at 2 p.m. That listing sits beside "Jamsgiving 2025" and lines up with last year's Thanksgiving weekend. For 2026, Ballet Arts lists December 11–13 for the production, at Select, Choice and Premium prices of $25, $30 and $35. The Tea Party runs before two shows, at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 12 and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 13. If your family has always made the Nutcracker part of the long Thanksgiving weekend, this year it lands two weeks later.
That brings things back to downtown and the parade. Here is the City's 2025 announcement:
"The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the theme 'Superhero Christmas.' The lighting of the Christmas tree will be held prior to the start of the parade at 5:15 p.m. in front of Jackson City Hall located at 101 E. Main St."
The Visit Jackson listing for Tuesday, December 1, 2026 repeats those same times, address and theme. The City's 2025 release ran under the headline "set for first Monday in December." December 1 fell on a Monday last year and falls on a Tuesday this year, so the tourism listing and last year's "first Monday" wording can't both describe 2026. Until the City posts its 2026 notice, treat the parade date, theme and route as unconfirmed.
If you're in a group that rides or marches, there's a practical deadline to watch. Last year, float, individual and organization registration closed on November 21 through the City's Communications and Engagement page at connect.jacksontn.gov. Last year's notice was dated December 1, the day of the parade itself. Check that page in November instead of waiting for the news cycle.
Christmas at the Walk, the holiday shopping day at Jackson Walk, 7 Jackson Walk Plaza, has two dates depending on which calendar you check. Visit Jackson lists Sunday, December 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with artisan vendors and local brands. Downtown Jackson's events calendar lists December 5. The event's own site, christmasatthewalk.com, describes the market but doesn't currently show a date.
The difference matters more than usual because of what else is on December 5. If Christmas at the Walk is that Saturday, it shares the day with both Jackson Symphony performances at the Civic Center, and a family could do the 11 a.m. matinee and then go shopping. If it's Sunday, the weekend spreads out, with the Symphony Saturday and Jackson Walk Sunday. Either way, check the organizer's site before you plan around one date.
Here's where the season stands for the week of November 6. You can plan on Holiday Makers, the Celtic Christmas show, Holiday Mart, the Symphony and the Nutcracker, all with 2026 dates posted by the groups running them. The parade and Christmas at the Walk are the two to recheck as December gets closer.
